Information we collect

Virginia Beach Winery collects only the information needed to operate the app, fulfill requests, protect accounts, and improve the guest experience. Depending on the features you use, this may include:

• Account information: your name, email address, user identifier, and authentication details used to create and secure your account.
• Rewards and purchase activity: loyalty balance, quest progress, eligible purchases, redemptions, and related Square customer or order identifiers.
• Device and app activity: device type, operating system, app version, screen interactions, notification tokens, crash information, and diagnostic data.
• Location: only when you grant permission for a location-aware feature such as a winery check-in. You can change location access in your device settings.
• Guest check-ins: a display name, caption, location label, and photo or video when you choose to submit one. Public posting requires explicit consent and staff approval. Contact details provided with a check-in are not displayed publicly.
• Messages and preferences: notification choices, marketing preferences, support requests, and unsubscribe activity.

Services that support the app

We use service providers to deliver specific app and winery functions. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services or meet legal and security obligations.

• Google Firebase supports authentication, notifications, analytics, and crash diagnostics.
• Apple and Google sign-in may provide the basic profile details you choose to share when authenticating.
• Square supports payments, orders, customer records, inventory, loyalty, and recurring subscription billing.
• Mailgun supports transactional and opted-in winery email delivery.
• Our Drupal website and APIs provide events, wines, rewards, quests, check-ins, preferences, and account features.

How we use information

We use information to authenticate users; show events, wines, rewards, and quests; process orders and loyalty activity; deliver requested notifications; moderate guest check-ins; provide support; prevent abuse; measure reliability; and improve the app and winery services.

Sharing and public content

We do not sell your personal information. Information may be shared with the service providers described above, with authorities when required by law, or as needed to protect customers, the winery, and our systems.

Content is public only when a feature clearly asks for permission. For example, an approved check-in may show the display name, media, caption, location label, and posting time you submitted. Email addresses, phone numbers, precise coordinates, IP addresses, and device details are not shown in the public check-in feed.

Your choices

• Use the app settings to manage available event, inventory, location, quest, and marketing notifications.
• Use your device settings to change notification, photo, camera, or location permissions.
• Use the unsubscribe link in a marketing email to stop winery marketing messages.
• Contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of account information, subject to records we must retain for transactions, fraud prevention, or legal obligations.

Retention and security

We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for the feature, our business records, security, dispute resolution, or legal requirements. We use administrative and technical safeguards intended to protect information, but no internet or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Children

The app and winery loyalty features are not directed to children under 13. Alcohol purchases remain subject to applicable age-verification requirements.

Policy updates

We may update this policy as the app and connected services change. The effective date shown on this page identifies the current version.
